Zhik is honoured to co-sponsor the 2013 IKA Kiteboard Course Race World Championship to be held at Kingbay Boao, China, 18-24 November. Kiteboard course racing, endorsed by ISAF, is a very strong candidate for Olympic selection in Tokyo 2020.
"Zhik is excited by this sport as it is synonymous with our roots in performance watersports", said founder and managing director Brian Conolly.
Recently, Zhik added top Australian Kiteboard competitors to its Zhik Team, Jordan Girdis and Lisa Hickman. "We will watch and learn from the competitors and our own team riders, so we can continue our innovation in products to include special editions for Kiteboarding", said design manager Bart Milczarczyk. The mission at Zhik is to engineer on water products that combine comfort, performance and style through functional design and technical innovation. Zhik will utilize its wealth of technical materials already developed for extreme and performance sailing to help innovate and develop brilliant products for the sport of Kiteboarding.
The sport is a hotbed of development, with new endeavours to get the boards foiling, much like in the latest extreme sailing classes such as the Moth or America's Cup. "We think this sport is destined for great popularity and also Olympic medals", said Bart Milczarzyk, "and elements like this help to turn the Zhik design team on".
