Congratulations Francisco Lufinha! Who managed to complete a gruelling 874km journey from Lisbon to Madeira Island, successfully breaking his old record set two years ago of traveling the longest distance without stopping while kitesurfing.

He endured two nights on the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean under challenging weather conditions, strong winds and high swell but conquered it all.

The start of the MINI Kitesurf Odyssey was in one of the Lisbon most important squares, Terreiro do Paço, where 500 years ago Portuguese sailors left to discover the Madeira Islands. Dozens of boats and supporters were on hand to wish him good luck and watch him begin the epic journey.

He arrived safely at Funchal, yesterday at 6PM after sailing 160 nautical miles in 12 hours!

An awesome achievement! You’re insane mate! But we love it.
