Zhik Team members in the laser fleets continue their winning ways at Sail Melbourne. This time it is Matias Del Solar, from Chile, that rose to the top, with an outstanding performance to take Gold in the Laser at the first regatta of the new ISAF Sailing World Cup.

"Our Zhik Team in the Laser and Laser Radial fleets will have fantastic depth for this next quadrenium", says Brian Conolly, "We strongly suspect it is likely that the team will dominate the ISAF class 1 regattas this coming season in 2009 and will continue this growth towards more Gold in 2012".

At the first heat of the ISAF Sailing World Cup the Zhik Team won Gold and Silver in the Laser, with Matias Del Solar CHI and Michael Bullot NZL, and a close fourth place to Sydney International winner Michael Leigh CAN. Gabriel King AUS grabbed second, with Anna Tunnicliffe USA continuing her winning ways after Qingdao

New to the Zhik Youth Team, Ali Masters GBR, took a brilliant 3rd in the RSX Youth division. "We are keen to chase Ali all the way to the top of the next youth Worlds. He's on track for a podium finish", said Dan Watterson. Dan helps to pick out new talent for the Zhik Team and he is confident with this recent choice.

In addition, it was great to see Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page AUS team up to win the 470 event. We'll be watching them closely.
