Zhik have confirmed their sponsorship of the International 29er Class, together with title sponsorship of the Zhik 29er Worlds and Zhik 29er European Championship, for the sixth year in a row.

With its strong foundations in dinghy sailing, it is a priority for Zhik to support youth sailing and young talent. Aligning with this major youth class enables Zhik to help facilitate young sailors, striving to achieve their best performance, with the best technical sailing gear.

Successful athletes who have come through the 29er fleet and subsequently become Zhik Team sailors, include Molly Meech and Alex Maloney, NZL Sailing Team’s 49er FX silver medallists, Blair Tuke double 49er World Champion and Will Ryan, Australian Sailing Team’s 470 silver medallist.

Joan Mollerus, President of the International 29er Class explains, “Our partnership with Zhik is so important for the 29er Class and our major championships. It means we can run extremely professional events, offering excellent prizes that recognise achievement for our sailors in all categories, as well as support young and often cash strapped athletes with exclusive offers on top-level performance clothing.

Piet Poelmann, Zhik’s CEO adds, “We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with the 29er Class. It’s inspirational for us to have the opportunity to support so many future champions and keep us firmly in touch with youth sailors. Their extensive hard training and racing puts our gear through it’s paces and gives us cutting edge feedback which continually influences garment design in our comprehensive range of performance apparel for youth sailors.”

In addition to Zhik’s support of youth sailing. Zhik has been appointed as an Official Supplier to the Australian Olympic Team for Tokyo Olympics 2021. The announcement follows the company’s recent appointment as an Official Apparel Partner of Australian Sailing for the third consecutive Olympiad.
